When Titleist introduced its 909 series of golf drivers, it maintained the classic, and instantly recognizable pear shaped club head and then that’s where the 909 Series have a parting of the way.

In order to accurately match the perfect Titleist golf driver to individual golfers, Titleist consider the angle a golfer uses when taking a shot and the speed he hits the ball. All golfers are different when it comes to these two factors and that is why there will never be a “one size fits all” Titleist golf driver.

So, in order for a golfer to discover which Titleist suits his game best, it is critical that he consider his own speed and angle and by doing this he will locate a Titleist driver that can maximize his driving distance.

The Titleist 909 series offers golfers three distinct driver options, which adjust CG (centre of gravity) to suit the way a golfer drives.

In order to achieve the ideal golf drive, a ball should have a high initial launch with low spin, but, if a golfer’s drive doesn’t match this ideal then Titleist can provide a driver to assist. [Read more...]

We all have tick-lists...Restaurants we have to eat at, hotels we have to stay in, things we have to do. For golfers, it's the tick-list of "Courses I have to play before I die (and preferably whilst I can still get round a golf course under 100)".

I've been lucky enough to play golf on five of the six continents (Australasia here I come!) and have always travelled with my clubs since the age of nine. Over the years I have seen amazing variety in golf course design - I calculate that I've played circa 1,500 golf clubs and I don't want to know how many balls I've lost! It was inevitable that I've played golf courses that would be better used as cow fields and others that I could play for the rest of my life. Some of the golf courses' architecture is flattering on the handicap and others make you think hard, struggle some more and eventually abandon all thoughts of posting a decent medal card. Nevertheless, if the course can beat you up and still entice you back for more, it must be good. Here's my top 10 golf courses that provide a difficult challenge.

Kingbarns

Wow, this golf course's design is good. Off the coast to the west of Saint Andrews, it's quite a new course but you certainly couldn't tell and the test is relentless. Stunning links golf with large greens, thick wispy rough and views to take your breath away. You need a good caddy, a strong drink and concentration. Deservedly rated by many Pro's as their favourite course in that part of the world. [Read more...]

Beginner golf players often have trouble selecting the perfect golf driver. The best golf drivers for beginners commonly follow the general rule that more forgiveness in the shot is better for learning players. These drivers also include two major aspects: a huge size and high loft. Oversized drivers, which can range up to 580 cubic centimeters, provide larger margins of error; that is, they have a larger sweet spot. High lofts determine just how high and far the ball will go with each hit. Again, operating at the extremes, size and loft produce the concept of forgiveness until the player is more experienced. Here are the best golf drivers for beginners that are perfectly designed for forgiveness.

The Command Q4 Titanium Driver comes in both 10.5 and 12 degrees, but many are considering the 10.5 degree to be the better for beginners. Although its club head is only 400 cubic centimeters, this driver is completely customizable, with six total different weight configurations. Many reviews of the Command Q4 Titanium Driver cite its “straight” qualities; that is, the ball rarely strays left or right. This makes driving practice with this club perfect. In general, this driver is popular because of the weight configuration options; players can be sure that they play with a weight that they feel comfortable with. There are other drivers that have heads of up to the legal limit of 460 cubic centimeters, however. [Read more...]
